AIA Tampa Bay's profile

Gresham Smith Offices

Flexibility is at the core of this design. Consisting of mostly unassigned work points, the office allows employees the opportunity to customize their workstations to fit the needs of their day, promoting individual comfort and productivity. A broad range of workstations include various features, from large widescreen monitors to privacy screen dividers and height adjustability, while others are set up bench style to facilitate open communication. Hybrid work is seamlessly integrated, with lockers and storage cubbies supporting mobility and a grab & go approach to each day. Neighborhoods are arranged to allow for varying levels of audible communication from a quiet zone to collaboration zones. Team terminals are designated spaces for project teams to openly brainstorm together.

Infusing local culture, the office incorporates wall graphics that celebrate the heritage of the region, depicted by the colorful abstract chicken mural in the social hub, representative of the wild chickens of nearby Ybor City. Additionally, 25 chickens serve as “easter eggs,” commemorating the office’s 25th anniversary coinciding with completion.

Communal spaces feature mobile technology and audiovisual systems fostering connectivity to other offices. Enclosed nooks provide spaces for participation in virtual meetings or head’s down work. Non-reservable cove rooms are designed for smaller impromptu meetings and brainstorming sessions.

The project is a testament to adaptability, inclusivity and creativity. It redefines the workplace as a flexible, hybrid-friendly environment that honors local culture and inspires innovation with a future-ready workspace where employees can thrive.
